03 Jan PEG and SUNY Reduce Energy Consumption
Platinum Energy Group’s Lighting and Energy Conservation division, in conjunction with SUNY-Stony Brook’s Advanced Energy Center, have begun work on a significant lighting system upgrade project to reduce energy consumption at the university’s administration parking garage by 65-percent.
The project, part of the university’s ongoing initiative to modernize campus lighting for efficiency, quality of light and safety, will require the replacement of all the garage’s existing lighting fixtures to new high-efficiency equipment. The new system comprises 365 interior fixtures and 50 exterior fixtures furnished by Phillips Lightolier and will not require any repairs for five years as covered under the warranty.
“This lighting system upgrade will provide tremendous savings to the university,” says Al Timmes, VP of Platinum Energy Group’s Lighting and Energy Conservation division. “It’s definitely a step in the right direction and we anticipate it will be the first of many such projects with the university.”
